The Nine-Item Brief for Specifying a Stone Furniture Project

Nine items. With all nine, a shop drawing and a price can be produced in one round. With five, you get a piece that is beautiful and does not fit, or fits and is the wrong stone.

What are the nine items?

The intended use and room, the space dimensions and any opening constraints, the stone and its origin, the slab thickness, the edge profile, the base material and structure, the surface finish, any cut-out or basin and the tap specification, and the delivery address with its access route.

# Item Why it matters
1 Use and room Decides the scale and the load
2 Space dimensions and openings Decides whether the piece can arrive
3 Stone Decides the colour, the pattern and the behaviour
4 Slab thickness Decides whether the top needs a substrate
5 Edge profile Decides the look, the cost and the chip risk
6 Base and structure Decides the bearing and the total height
7 Finish Decides the maintenance and the appearance
8 Basin, cut-out and tap Decides the fitting and the tolerances
9 Delivery route Decides the crating, the handling and the cost

How long does a custom stone furniture piece take?

We do not publish lead times, and the reason is not discretion — it is that the answer depends on the stone, the size, the complexity and how many pieces are involved. A simple table top and a carved basin are different jobs. Ask for a lead time against a specific brief and you will get a real one.

Can pieces in one project match exactly?

The more you specify before cutting, the more of the match we can control. The limit is the block. Where several pieces must match, say so at brief stage, and we will tell you what that limit is for the particular stone rather than promise a match we cannot make.

What does a shop drawing show?

Plan and elevation with the final dimensions, the edge profile, the base construction and the joint positions. It is what you approve before anything is cut, and it is the document the workshop works from.

What this page does not cover

What this page does not cover: this is a specification checklist, not a quotation, a lead time or a contract. We do not publish minimum order quantities, lead times or prices on this site. Any project needs a brief answered against the actual piece before a number can be given.
