We are a stone-cutting studio that makes furniture. The two halves of that sentence set the order of everything: the stone decides the piece, not the other way round.
What we do
Cutting is the part that cannot be delegated
A stone furniture piece is hollowed, squared and finished from a single block. If the block has a flaw, the flaw is in the piece. This is why the photographs we send before cutting matter more than the photographs after it, and why we would rather show you a block with a vein running through it than a perfect-looking sample that is not the stone you will receive.
Where we work
Shuitou, Guangdong
Shuitou is where the cutting happens. The stone itself comes from many places, and where it comes from is a separate question from where it is worked — the two are not the same fact and we do not merge them. We say which stones we work with and let the stone speak for its own origin.
How we work
One material, one piece at a time
We do not hold a warehouse of finished stock and we do not sell by the square metre. Every piece is cut to a size, from a stone chosen for that piece. If a piece you have seen is not the piece you receive, it is because the stone decided, and we will show you the block before we cut it.
